The 24th Annual Silicon Valley Walk to Defeat ALS® was held on Saturday, October 14. Hundreds joined ALS Golden West at the Coyote Point Recreation Area to raise ALS awareness and funds for those affected by ALS in the Bay Area.

The community event began with a special opening ceremony; which included guest speakers and three honorees: David Buseck, Stan Silverman and the South Bay Support Group. David Buseck was awarded the ALS Hero Award for his continued advocacy for the ALS community by spreading awareness about the disease. Stan Silverman and the South Bay Support Group were awarded the Never Give Up Award for their representation at the Silicon Valley Walk for over 10 years, cumulatively raising over $150,000.

The Walk was followed by a delicious lunch, provided by Tony Caters, and an opportunity drawing afterward. The annual event also included a resource fair accompanied by Access Medical, Maxim Healthcare, Amylyx, Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma America, Permobil and ALS Golden West.

With the help of the passionate fundraisers, engaged supporters and generous donors, the Silicon Valley Walk to Defeat ALS brought together over 400 dedicated participants, sponsors, and volunteers who together have raised more than $213,000 towards our goal of $290,000! Team Tortoise was this year’s highest fundraising team, raising nearly $36,000! All proceeds provide critical funding for ALS Golden West’s urgent mission priorities related to ALS care services, public policy initiatives, and cutting-edge global research.
