Resources for Military & Veterans
The ALS Network is working everyday to support people with ALS and their families, including our heroes who have served in the military and who have a greater chance of developing ALS than those who have not served.
This page is designed specifically for veterans with ALS, their families, and survivors. Here you will learn what benefits are available and how you can apply for benefits.
Also available on this site are links to resources and tools that veterans can use to participate in advocacy efforts that make a difference in improving benefits for veterans and advancing research for effective treatments and cures.

Urging Action on Justice for ALS Veterans Act
On May 11, 2023, House Resolution Bill 3790 (HR 3790) and a companion bill in the Senate (SB 1590), also known as the Justice for ALS Veterans Act 2023, was introduced to ensure fairness for veterans living with ALS and their families. ALS is considered a 100% disabling service-connected disease. For veterans who die as a result of a service-related disease, their families are eligible for increased compensation benefit. However, to be eligible, the veteran must live with the service-related disease for a period of 8 years. This is unfair to the families of veterans living with ALS who are given a life expectancy of 2-5 years. The House Veterans' Affairs Subcommittee recently met to review the Justice for ALS Veterans Act. The ALS Network endorses this legislation and asks the Veterans Affairs Subcommittee on Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs to consider and swiftly pass HR 3790/SB 1590.
