Resources for Military & Veterans
The ALS Network is working everyday to support people with ALS and their families, including our heroes who have served in the military and who have a greater chance of developing ALS than those who have not served.
This page is designed specifically for veterans with ALS, their families, and survivors. Here you will learn what benefits are available and how you can apply for benefits.
Also available on this site are links to resources and tools that veterans can use to participate in advocacy efforts that make a difference in improving benefits for veterans and advancing research for effective treatments and cures.
NEW Resource from the VA
The Veterans Health Administration (VA) offers specialized ALS care through a dedicated care team, including an ALS Coordinator at every VA medical center to assist with navigating treatment and support. Veterans can access care at the nearest VA facility, and telehealth options are available for those who cannot travel. The VA also collaborates with community partners including the ALS Network and offers resources for clinical trials, support groups, and research to improve care and outcomes for veterans with ALS. Find out more on the VA’s new website.

Advocacy Update
This year, H.R. 8371: Senator Elizabeth Dole 21st Century Veterans Healthcare and Benefits Improvement Act was introduced with bipartisan support to improve care for veterans and their caregivers. This legislation is a comprehensive package of bills that strengthens access to home-based care, enhances caregiver resources, and ensures ALS-affected veterans receive the specialized support they need. The ALS Network proudly endorses this legislation.
