Muscular Dystrophy Association Announces nearly $2 Million in Collaborative Research Grants Advancing Treatments Across Multiple Neuromuscular Diseases

MDA’s partnership in research includes collaborative research grants with the ALS Network, Cure ADSSL1, Coalition to Cure Calpain 3, Cure CMD, Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance, The Myositis Association, and United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation.

New York, Wednesday, December 3, 2025 — The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) today announced the awarding of seven new collaborative research grants totaling nearly $2 million to advance understanding and treatment of multiple neuromuscular diseases, including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), congenital myopathies, Friedreich’s ataxia (FA), inclusion body myositis (IBM), limb-girdle muscular dystrophy (LGMD), and mitochondrial disease.
