Mayor of Calabasas signs Proclamation recognizing May’s ALS Awareness Month
On Wednesday, May 24, the Mayor of Calabasas, David Shapiro, signed a proclamation to recognize May as ALS Awareness Month in the City of Calabasas. Mayor Shapiro advocated for the proclamation to honor his longtime friend, Eric Kentor along with other friends and colleagues impacted by ALS.
Eric, a UCLA classmate and fraternity brother of Mayor Shaprio’s, was diagnosed with ALS in May 2020. He has been collaborating with the Golden West Chapter to raise awareness and funds to advance the fight against ALS. Recently, his daughter Nikki Eva Kentor joined the Chapter as a Community Outreach Coordinator.
Sheri Strahl, MPH, MBA, Chief Operating Officer for the Golden West Chapter, shared a few remarks during the May 24 Calabasas City Council meeting, and was accompanied by Nikki as well as Gillian Wallengren, Director of Community Outreach.
Thank you to Mayor Shapiro and the Calabasas community for their dedication and support to continue to raise #ALS Awareness!
