This month, join the Golden West Chapter and Major League Baseball in honoring the legacy of Lou Gehrig and raising awareness and support for the ALS community. We hope to see you at the Lou Gehrig Day games with the San Francisco Giants on Friday, 6/2; the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday, 6/2; and the Oakland Athletics on Monday, 6/12.

Lou Gehrig was a record-setting player for the New York Yankees, known as “The Iron Horse” for his incredible streak of 2,130 consecutive games. In 2021, MLB designated June 2 as Lou Gehrig Day, as it is the anniversary of when Gehrig became the Yankees’ starting first baseman in 1925. It also marks his death in 1941, at the age of 37, after a two year battle with ALS.

Please check our calendar for upcoming events and online support groups, and RSVP for our Hawaii Walk to Defeat ALS Kickoff on Saturday, 6/17; ASK ME: Advocacy in ALS – Why Your Voice Matters on Thursday, 6/22; and the Central Valley Walk to Defeat ALS Kickoff on Saturday, 6/24.
