Some stories don’t end, they continue to expand
When Steve Ellis was diagnosed with ALS, he chose to share his journey openly, helping others feel less alone and more supported along the way. That decision created a ripple effect, one that continues today through his family and the broader ALS community.
The ALS Network is proud to partner with Scean, Steve’s wife, and their daughter Kennedy, to launch the Big Smoke Tribute Fund in Steve’s honor.
Scean, now an ALS Network Board Member, continues to give back in meaningful ways by bringing leadership, perspective, and purpose to advancing care, research, and advocacy.
Together, she and Kennedy also lead a Los Angeles Walk & Roll to Cure ALS team, rallying others to show up, give back, and move progress forward.
This tribute fund is more than a way to remember Steve. It’s an opportunity to continue what he started by supporting families, strengthening community, and shaping what comes next. Proceeds from the fund support the ALS Network’s care services program that provides expert advice and assistance to people living with ALS, free of charge.
This May, as the ALS Network recognizes the Power of Community throughout ALS Awareness Month, we elevate care, accelerate research, and turn advocacy into action, shaping a future of promise and hope.
