Join us to celebrate our ALS community in Hawaii and kickoff our annual Walk to Defeat ALS on Saturday, June 17, 2023. Attendance is free, but space is very limited, so RSVP as soon as possible.
- You can participate in person, starting at 10:30 AM HST, and enjoy lunch provided by us at the Ala Moana Hotel, Ilima Room.
- To participate virtually, join us at 11:00 am HST/2:00 pm PDT on Zoom.
This gathering is an opportunity for families affected by ALS, returning Walk teams, prospective Walk teams, and sponsors a chance to join together in a more intimate setting to learn more about ALS care, cures, and our community.
Our program will feature a special guest all the way from Washington, D.C.! Dr. Paul Mehta, Principal Investigator, from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, will discuss how people with ALS can participate in research through the National ALS Registry. We will also hear from Dr. Karen DaSilva, neurologist from Queens Medical Center, where you will learn about new ALS research and treatments.
The Golden West Chapter’s Asher Garfinkel, Vice President of Community Outreach will give updates about our mission priorities in ALS care services, research, and advocacy. Then, Rex Like, Chapter Care Manager, will share local updates. Finally, AnnMarie Ingham, Assistant Director of Community Outreach, will be there to officially kickoff the Hawaii Walk to Defeat ALS, scheduled for Saturday, September 30, 2023.
Those attending the kickoff in person and who are also registered for the September Walk will be eligible for our door prize drawing! If you haven’t done so, sign up for the Walk today!
