Since its inception in 2000, the Central Valley Burnout, Walk & Roll to Cure ALS® has been a yearly opportunity for the ALS community to connect and fuel the search for effective treatments and cures for ALS. This event is open to the public and is designed to appeal to every level of supporter of the ALS Network.

“The Walk is a great rallying point for those of us directly impacted by ALS,” said Laura Miller, who has been living with ALS since 2020. “It’s something positive to focus on for those of us with the disease, as well as for our families and friends who support us. It’s also a fun and lighthearted competition between the teams, working to raise the money, for our common cause.”

Online registration closes September 7, however, supporters are welcome to sign up in person on the morning of the event beginning at 10:00 AM. Everyone must check-in upon arrival. Car show and Burnout will begin at 10:00 AM. Cars may register on-site prior to 10:00 AM for $35.00 to join the car show. There will be 13 categories for judging. Opening Ceremony will begin at 10:30 AM with the Walk & Roll to follow.

All funds raised support the interdependent mission priorities of the ALS Network in care services, public policy, and research.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, is a fatal, neurodegenerative illness that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. People with ALS lose the ability to move, speak, swallow, and, eventually, to breathe – all while their minds and senses usually continue to function. People who have served in any branch of the military are diagnosed with ALS nearly twice as often as the general population. Currently, there are no known cures for ALS and only modestly effective treatments.

The mission of the ALS Network is to partner with the ALS community as we drive the discovery of prevention strategies, treatments, and cures for ALS; provide access to quality care and connection; and promote initiatives to improve health outcomes. The ALS Network, formerly ALS Golden West, serves people with ALS and their families throughout California and Hawaii.
