Our ALS community celebrates and uplifts the voices of Black individuals affected by ALS. Together, we can create a more inclusive environment in care, research, and advocacy.
Throughout February we will highlight members of our community including caregivers and ALS Network team members that make a difference each and every day. Check out our social media channels via @youralsnetwork to see and hear from some of the amazing people that are part of our family of support.
One of those individuals making a difference is Sam Hamilton, an ALS caregiver.
Since Sam’s wife, Sharalyn, was diagnosed with ALS in August 2020, they have faced many challenges but found support through the ALS Network In Sam’s words, “It was extremely helpful to have someone like our care manager, Cindy. She was dependable and always available for us. Every time we attended the ALS clinic, Cindy was also there to discuss and help navigate our concerns, and offer guidance and suggestions that are always beneficial.”
Sam says that people living with ALS face a very complex process, and there are a lot of issues that come up. When there are unanswered questions and things they are uncertain about, the ALS Network has been extremely supportive and is the go-to resource to get those questions answered.
