CA Taxpayers Can Now Fund ALS Research – Use Code 447 on CA Income Tax Returns
Brain health is everyone’s issue! This year, California taxpayers can support the search for effective treatments and cures for ALS, and related neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and FTD via the California ALS Research Network Voluntary Tax Contribution Fund.
The fund was created by Assembly Bill 511(AB 511) allowing Californians filing their state income taxes to donate an amount of their choice to help fund critical research projects.
The well-established state tax checkoff program enables a funding source to support some of the brightest minds in disease research – bridging the gap between the researcher’s bench and the patient’s bedside. At least $250,000 must be raised per year for the program to remain on the CA income tax return form.
Contributions can be made via Code 447 on any of these California income tax returns: 540 2EZ, 540,540NR Long or Short Form, and 541, Schedule C. You can make a contribution of $1 or more, in whole dollar amounts. There is no maximum contribution amount.
