Aloha,
I recently shared my story for the Golden West Chapter’s Walk to Defeat ALS. For the first time ever, teams and participants representing 31 California counties and the entire state of Hawaii gathered together on the same day as one unified community to raise ALS awareness and funds, connect with one another, and celebrate our loved ones.
Talking about ALS isn’t easy and it’s not something that people want to do. But we need to advocate for treatment, and for science for ALS. When I was diagnosed with ALS, my wife, Jennifer, and I knew we needed to dedicate ourselves to raise awareness and support to defeat ALS.
I want people to know that there is hope. Science is really close and we need resources. We need funding for trials and treatments and multidisciplinary clinics, especially for places like here in Hawaii. The work of the Golden West Chapter plays such an important role in helping people with ALS and their families to find information. The introduction to other folks living with ALS in Hawaii, hearing their stories and how they deal with this disease, has helped me tremendously.
Donations to The Golden West Chapter Walk to Defeat ALS support research, public policy efforts and care services provided free of charge in the Chapter’s service area.
Mahalo and thank you for your support of people in the ALS community like me, and the mission of the Golden West Chapter.
Sincerely,
