24th annual Monterey Bay ‘Walk to Defeat ALS’ boasts huge success

In Monterey, a large turnout for a walk against ALS.

The disease, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, impacts nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, causing a loss of muscle control.

The average life expectancy after the disease presents itself is two to five years, as there is no cure.

On Saturday, over 200 people walked about a mile to raise awareness in Monterey.
